Brij Bhatti Real Name: What Do We Actually Know?
Let’s settle this right away. The Brij Bhatti Real Name is Vijay Varma. He is not a historical figure and not a real gambler from 1960s Bombay; he is a fictional character written for the screen, and the man behind him is a well-known Hindi film and streaming actor.
Is Brij Bhatti a real person?
No, not exactly. Brij Bhatti is a fictional character, but the show’s creators have said he’s loosely inspired by Ratan Khatri, the real-life Mumbai businessman often called the original “Matka King,” who built India’s biggest underground betting network starting in the 1960s. So Brij Bhatti borrows the shape of a real story without being a direct biopic.
Why fans search for the actor’s name
Matka King is styled as a period drama with a strong, grounded lead performance, and that kind of performance often makes viewers curious about the person behind it. Once they realize it’s the same actor from Gully Boy and Mirzapur, the search for “Brij Bhatti Real Name” becomes a search for everything about Vijay Varma himself.
How reliable is this claim?
| Claim | Where It Appears | Our Reliability Rating |

| Brij Bhatti is a direct biopic character | Not claimed anywhere | Not applicable |
Who Is Vijay Varma?
Vijay Varma was born on 29 March 1986 in Hyderabad, into a Marwari Hindu family, and studied at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune before starting out as a theatre artist. He built his career slowly, through supporting roles, before breaking through with the crime drama Pink in 2016, which earned him a Filmfare nomination.
Since then, he’s built a reputation as one of Hindi cinema’s most dependable performers, known for choosing roles that are complex rather than conventionally heroic. His work spans big streaming hits and acclaimed films alike, and by 2026, he had become one of the most recognizable faces in Indian OTT drama.
Vijay Varma Age: How Old Is He in 2026?
Vijay Varma Age is 40 as of 25 September 2026, based on his confirmed birth date of 29 March 1986. Quite a few older, lower-quality sites list his birth year as 1984, but the more reliable, consistently sourced record puts it at 1986, which we’re using here.
| Year | His Age |
|---|---|
| 2016 (Pink release) | 30 |
| 2023 (Dahaad, Filmfare win) | 37 |
| 2026 (today) | 40 |
Vijay Varma Height and Vijay Varma Weight
Vijay Varma Height is reported at 5 feet 11 inches, or around 180.5 cm. Vijay Varma Weight is reported at approximately 70 kg. Both figures come from fan-run biography pages rather than an official source, so treat them as solid estimates rather than measured records.
Vijay Varma Wife: Is He Married?
Here’s where we need to be careful. Vijay Varma Wife is a heavily searched term, but the honest answer is that he is not confirmed to be married. He has been in a relationship with actress Tamannaah Bhatia since early 2023, after the two met on the set of Lust Stories 2. Tamannaah publicly confirmed the relationship in an interview in June 2023.
A handful of low-quality websites claim the two married in a private ceremony in late 2022, and a few others even attach an entirely different, unrelated name as his “spouse.” Neither claim holds up against reliable entertainment reporting, and no credible news source has confirmed a wedding.
| Claim | Reliability |
|---|---|
| Dating Tamannaah Bhatia since 2023 | High — confirmed by Tamannaah herself |
| Married to Tamannaah Bhatia | Low — no credible confirmation found |
| Married to an unrelated named individual | Very low — appears on spam-style pages only |
